'Knife So Sweet Sounding Yet Still Deadlier' Poem by Kevin Wang

'Knife So Sweet Sounding Yet Still Deadlier'

What say you
with this blade of a knife
sharpening on that burning spinning rock
yet why is that knife still pointing at me like so

just look at these waves rolling
like the wind that dances with the tall meadow grasses
but just why just why
is your blade held there with lightening shocking me

pattering rain upon the rooftop
stomping footsteps of the heart aching wanting
so sweet sounding by the ear
yet so deadly right here

i'm still here baby
a rock to vent your anger off
im always there
so don't point that dagger at me anymore

let me help you crack a smile
that'll light these heart-shaped constellations
let me take that knife from your hand
and give another hug to make it better

let it ring
and spin down to the gutters down bellow
let it go
and make that beautiful smile spark up this dark place

knife so sweet sounding
as all else is deaf to your ears
yet deadlier if not let go
so smile my lovely
smile
for the knife is thrown away in the sun
