Know Thyself Poem by Dr. Ramesh Chandra Mukhopadhyaya

Know Thyself

Civilisation is now up with arms

The multinationals will reach every remote corner

Soaps and toothpastes and cold drinks

Must be sold among the eskimos and pigmies

and the Jarowas

Everyone must share the fruits of development

And technology

Those who refuse to share our wealth are damned

And must be eliminated from the world

The hermit's cloister has been shattered

We are out to deforest

So that rattle snakes and tigers and hermits

Become the things of the past

Thank you the architects of the modern world
