Kolor In June Poem by Francis Duggan

Kolor In June

In the mostly blue sky just a few clouds of gray
The sun it is shining on Mt Rouse today
And the familiar warbling flutes are so pleasant to hear
Of the magpies who sing every day of the year
Long before the first Europeans to what is now known as South West Victoria came
Kolor for the volcanic now known as Mt Rouse was it's indigenous name
The old volcanic hill that will ever look down
On the ancient stony countryside around Penshurst Town
A hill sacred to Australia's first people going back the centuries
Where they hunted and socialized and had their corroborees
But no didgeridoos heard on Kolor today
That time brings with it changes only true to say
The volcanic hill of Kolor in June in the Winter sunlight
For to say the least is a beautiful sight.
