Krishna 1 - The Charming Krishna Poem by Geeta Radhakrishna Menon

Krishna 1 - The Charming Krishna

Rating: 5.0

O! Charming Krishna!
You are the wondrous wonder of this universe!

A divine boy like the pink lotus adolescence,
A vision of beauty of mesmerising benevolence,
A lustre that glows and expands into infinite brilliance,
A sparkle that can never ever fade beyond any horizon!

The charming head of curly locks so lovely,
Thick like a beehive filled with honey,
Elegant braid of hair tied into a mysterious pony,
Encircled by a cluster of peacock feathers so pretty!

Thy forehead gleaming with sandalwood paste,
So elegantly decorated like an oval design so chaste,
Thy broad forehead so radiant and divine,
So attractive like the infant moon with vertical mark so fine!

Thy eyes are a pool of compassion indescribable,
Beautiful luxuriant eyebrows like the ripples of ocean,
Thy sparkling eyes with pupils dancing with graceful motion,
Beaming rays of merciful glances so unfathomable!

With your most enchanting lotus eyes,
With those penetrating merciful glances,
You cast a spell over me! O Krishna!
You are my Saviour and my beloved Guide!

Hi Geeta, This concept of a toddler-god is unique for the Hindu culture. No other god is worshiped as an infant. Why this? How did it emerge? Why this dwaita-bhavam? - Even st Guruvayur, it is said, the deity is Vishnu, but He is worshiped as unnikrishnan. How come?

Have you heard of the saying that child is the personification of God? Well, that is the answer! A child is innocent and has not yet begun to experience the burden of causes and effects of the past Karmas. You must read Narayana Bhattatiripad's 'Narayaneeyam'. He has the answer as to why Krishna is worshipped as a child. To comprehend the concept of 'Advaita' one has to experience 'Dvaita' aspect of a devotee. Enjoyed your questions. Wish i could answer in detail. Thank you, Unnikrishna.......

Writing for the edification and glorification of The Savour is the hallmark mark of ingenuity. Lovely piece embellished in poetic rhyme and rhythm. Thanks for sharing Doctor.
