L.O.L. Poem by Rory Hudson

L.O.L.

Rating: 3.5

These initials, L.O.L. -
at first I thought
they stood for “Lots Of Love”,
but now I learn
they stand for “Laughing Out Loud”.

But it’s much the same, is it not?
One laughs with one’s lungs,
inhaling and breathing out again
and perhaps, after all,
the heart is not the seat of love,
but it’s the lungs where love resides
at least when we laugh through life,
with the breath that infects our blood.

What is life
but breathing in
and breathing out;
breathing in
and breathing out?

He who does not laugh
is like he who does not love
this is he who does not breathe
and he will surely die.

Look wisely at the world
and you will laugh out loud
with lots of love.
