Lady Hazel And Her Vergil Poem by Bobbie Othigo

Lady Hazel And Her Vergil

Vergil
Oh miss Hazel, my Lady Hazel,
Hear these stones lightly striking
Your window, wipe the waters that make it hazy,
Look down Lady Hazel, ‘tis me singing
Where these roses solemnly grow,
Their redness radiantly washed by the sun,
That's where I do stand now,
Open up, the wind pushes to you,
It carries these scents and also my voice,
Lady Hazel, stop the apron you sew,
Oh hear, your Vergil's voice grows hoarse.

Sweet Lady Hazel kind,
‘tis I who braved the chilly morn to walk,
That in this place I should wind,
‘twas foggy, none to talk,
It's good cause my voice is well preserved,
I'm here aft all those miles,
I have well persevered,
They swell, my face's smiles,
Pretty Lady Hazel kind, do please
Open the window and hear this song,
Else the thorny tree I'll climb without ease,
I love, love you so, in that there's no wrong,
Darling Dear Hazel, I must get to you please.

Lady Hazel, the love drives me mad,
But the madness I gladly endure,
With you I've seen the world not sad,
The joy is such an allure,
Laud God for this love my dame,
Sweeter than sugar dipped in honey,
I sing it with no shame,
Love, your value has no money,
Lovely lady Hazel hearken here,
Your Vergil sings of you whom he miss,
Open the window Oh hear,
My palm's open to blow you a kiss.

Hazel (Lady)
How loud you shout
My lovely gentleman,
Careful, father will have a bout-
With you, here you'll find a ban,
Oh, remove that face,
Of you they too are most fond,
Without you what will here be, this place,
Our love's the loveliest bond,
My soul to yours is tied with unbreakable tether,
I'm yours Vergil- heart, body and all,
I am but your feather,
In love with you, always I'll fall.

What, you proudly say
Before the cockerel had lifted lazy lid you had woke,
Well, sleep fought with me and finally let go,
Should have told you this whilst you spoke,
I find it quite a bore
When you're not here, night drags long.
Before first dew made yonder shrub damp,
My lamp had already been lit,
Fetched water and gave me-self a scrub
From face down to my little feet,
I knew you'd come early with a song,
See Vergil; see how my thoughts you steal?
To you I eternally belong.

Every morn and night, till
Both sun and moon have grown mold,
I will love, love, and love you more,
Our hands held tight, we'll get old,
Lots of love never did make a heart sore.
I'm not blind to wisdom, love stings,
Not only by sentiment, I'm here by choice,
When sadness comes we'll again
Make our hearts with laughter ting,
Whatever comes in our midst to make noise
Know that deep is my faith and trust,
I am not to fade, not in any way,
Nothing can break my soul's crust
Ever to steal the affection away
