Laika* in orbit

“Laika in orbit “ great leap forward
Friend came with shouting words
What is in it as surprise? I asked
“World can now look better now with promise” he again flashed

Yes Russians had sent dog in sputnik
To check the scientific effects
It was certainly big news to kids
We all dreamed about it when read too

Years later some more excitement came
Americans were not behind to claim
Three astronauts were on board Apollo
We heard count down on radio with first word “go”

It was made humanly possible
The moon rocks were brought on earth as symbol
Months later there were exhibited n world capitals
I was fortunate enough to see it in New Delhi on arrivals

Little sky color and about pour to five pieces
It was housed in closed glass jar to see
People had queued up to see the alien stone
As an young soldier I witnessed and enjoyed alone

It carried long lasing impression
I considered it as new venture and mission
It was to open new scientific ear for exploration
The thrust was aimed at bringing world closer in communication
