Last Blues For Bloodly Knuckles Poem by Lora Cooley

Last Blues For Bloodly Knuckles

Was it something I did?
I can fix it if you trust me
I care
We made a promise
Pledged our flesh to be one
You doubt a love that stood so proud
I believe in it still
It has faltered
Faded
I know it's there
How strange to think we were once lovers
We've wrapped the past in broken glass
I'll save this
I'll revive it
I will
Why would you tear it apart?
Your silent screams
Hear me
The promise that you made was meant to live forever
You're not allowed to change your mind
Was there nothing in that promise?
Are you listening?
Stop the wind from blowing
Refuse the falling rain
Love stirred up a storm inside me
I failed you
I'm sorry
Sure as the rain falls some love just fails
