Last Drop… Poem by KUNAL SETH

Last Drop…

Last dropp of us is intoxication
A benevolent medication
A panacea that cured all ills
Nothing else better fills
When I sink in you
I sink in me
All promises hung loose from the chords that connected us
Vivid reminders of the storms that we treasured
The morning dews and the evening walks
A box full of sweet nothings that’s all I got.

Last dropp of you is ether
In my head a thousand colors find their way to a palette
Reverse gear to the start
How we came close and how we fell apart
Pieces of that porcelain
That you never shared
Scattered now in no one’s shade
Like the discarded overflowing stream in the rain
Wanted in the heat of the sun
Now making its way into the ignorant vain

Last dropp you is the last of me
A momentary glimpse of the treat
Then I close my eyes to this portrait in your arms tonight
Leaving you, abandoning you with this plight
That last look on your face
Of the unfinished symphony that could never be a reprise
In this lifetime
I fare thee well while I depart
Sharing the last breath with you that beat our hearts
A river awaits me of which I’ll be a mortal part.
