Last Night... Poem by Bharat Trivedi

Last Night...

Rating: 5.0

Last night
Nightingale sang sonorous love-songs
in your diamond studded ears
to incite you from your deep sleep,
while night fell asleep
waiting for the advent of dawn.

Last night
mad moths kissed death
while bathing in the warmth of the
fiery fatal flame of candle-lights
that burnt so bright
till the very first ray of
dazzling daylight.

Last night
seven coloured dreams
poured from the heavens above
to paint your body in hues, so vivid
while you were lost
in the jungles of sensuous slumber.

Last night
fireflies buzzed around the fragrant shrubs
that lit-up like Christmas tree at the festive times
and starry dew drops drizzled from skies
to fondly caress the pink lips of
tender blushing rosebuds

Last night
we lay, entwined,
arms in arms, lips to lips and body to body -
by the glowing jasmine scented incense-sticks,
moonlight danced in ecstasy
to the enchanting tunes of lunatic full-moon
on the silvery floor of star-lit night
celebrating the celestial union
of our mortal bodies
and immortal souls…
