Laugh Riot Poem by Dorothy Sinha

Laugh Riot

The last time they smiled, Its been a while
Neither do they laugh
Secretly rolling in laughter, they pretend to cough

Scared of laughter
And the consequences -thereafter
Laughter is a closed chapter

Lest the southerly breeze, in careless wheeze,
Tickle them a giggle
They huddled into a wriggle

When laughter does effuse
They forcibly diffuse
Even offered free, they refuse

Scared, they scan the horizon
For the first act of treason
Ever alert to thwart
If arose an effervescent thought!

Strict code of conduct, which surely sucked
No laughter, only despair
Hung in the air, at their lair
Trust me, have been there!

This was the story
of a family extra-ordinary
Who cringed
For even a tinge
of glee
tee hee hee
