Layers Of Life Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Layers Of Life

Rating: 5.0

Under the varying layers of applied paint
Many tubes of hue must be acknowledged
The canvas of innocence and naïve purity
Has absorbed the brush strokes of knowledge

The boldness of light exposes an altered portrait
Beneath the surface is a heart that weeps
Recalling fading pain…redeemed by laugher
Shifting images that constantly flicker during sleep

Outlines have changed over the course of time
Intensity has lost… then regained its brilliance
Turbulence and tranquility simultaneously exist
The highlights of joyful experiences gently enhance

Under the surface is a gallery of ageless portraits
Each smile and frown is concealed with invisibility
Graying hair is now the only evidence of acceptance
Chameleon traits no longer blend…revealing reality
