Learning To Live Alone Poem by Sebastian Soberania

Learning To Live Alone

honestly i have met a lot of people
some of them
very much like you, lots of talk
and drinks
many stories
a little sleep and more entertaining
conversations.

wholesome, you say
and sometimes, honestly i miss all these things
the social events,
human interactions, exchanges of thoughts
and written letters,
postcards, and emails

but sometimes i am surprised
about myself

for years, i was hurt, and i thought
my life is one kind of
a hellish existence,

and then i learned the hard way
just being alone
just being left alone
and i am happy that way

an island without bridges
a river without the link to the sea
a creek without a fish
a pond with nothing but a lotus
with a lonely flower
with the moon on a windless night

calm and undisturbed
solemn and satisfied.
