Leather Boots Poem by Joseph Narusiewicz

Leather Boots

Dreams like Dorian Gray
Crime and punishment swirl
She cuts herself
She purges her wretched past
Another tattoo to feel self worth
Her father hits on her friends
Another friend pregnant at sixteen
Churches and abortion clinics

The radio moans like dogs in heat
The city sirens revel
Vets under a bridge
School is for the rich
Guns and dicks
Her makeup is dark

Leather boots in the rain
