Leaving Me Poem by PADMINI DUTTA SHARMA

Leaving Me

The moon peeped from the window
I clearly saw your shadow
I went near the door disarmed….

You did come around and kiss
But why did it taste so amiss?
I felt the chill down my spine
Clearly knowing you were no longer mine!

Did you stray really?
Did you make love to Emily?
What went wrong my dear?
What is it that I could not hear?

Am I hearing right
That you are moving out tonight?
Don’t be in haste
It may your life waste
Let’s sit down and talk
I will take all the jeering and mock.

I know I was rude that day
But that’s because you did not pay
The landlord was very harsh
He insulted me by saying you were brash.

I am having your baby
I cannot work coz I am too heavy
Please don’t leave me honey
I have never loved you for your money.

How could you not hear my heartbeats?
They only have your name on their lips
I will be finished if you go
Please say yes and don’t say no.
