Leisure (A Positive Version Of The Poem By William Henry Davies)

Rating: 5.0

A wonderful life this, if you are aware,
There's plenty of time to stand and stare.

Time to stand beneath the boughs,
And stare as long as sheep or cows.

Time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.

Time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.

Time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.

Time to wait till her mouth can,
Enrich that smile her eyes began.

A wonderful life this, if you dare,
To spend some time to stand and stare.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Leisure, by William Henry Davies is one of the most popular poems ever written. This more positive version serves to remind us that we are all born with plenty of time for leisure, and pleasure. Sometimes we just need to adjust our priorities, and admit to ourselves that we can find a few minutes in our day to give ourselves something beautiful.
