Leonardo The Genius Poem by Francis Duggan

Leonardo The Genius

The one who is honoured in story and rhyme
His legend has withstood five centuries of time
Leonardo the genius was born to create
The artist, inventor and engineer was a true great.

Five centuries ago he looked towards the sky
Leonardo could visualize humans would fly
The first to draw human skeletons of him it can be said
Of his time that he was one who was centuries ahead.

In art true greatness of him none would dare to deny
The Last Supper and Mona Lisa to his genius testify
More than a great inventor and artist a great visionary
Far into the future Leonardo could see.

One of if not the greatest of old Italy
Leonardo lives on in Human History
He lived in the World five centuries ago
And from his genius so many creations did flow.
