Lesson Learned Poem by Tirupathi Chandrupatla

Lesson Learned

Rating: 5.0

Who's to be
Blamed
Politician
Or I?
For this
Polluting
Mess
Spreading
Every where
And all around,
Society
Stinking
Morale
Sinking.

Politician
Not keeping
Promise is
Changing
Colors like
A chameleon
He shields
His face
From incoming
Darts
Of criticism
Deftly handling
His umbrella
Of elected power.

It's me
It's me
The common
Man
I must be
Blamed
I feel
Ashamed
For choosing
The leader
Who put
Us all
In hazard's
Way.

I fell
In the trap
Of promises made
Never could see
The selfish
Motives
Hidden behind
The selfless
Covers
I have now
Learned
My lesson
The hard
Way.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Satirical about politicians who make personal advance a higher priority over welfare of fellow citizens and their country. My deep respect to all those who serve as they promised. Every citizen also shares the responsibility in a fair election.

Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely! It is not our choice that is to be blamed! Before coming into power, usually everyone is good! Once in power and when they begin to play the foul game, people en masse should react and check them! We are always subservient to those in power! There lies our mistake! !

There have been so many good politicians around in the world and they have brought the changes to the life of the people, sadly in those countries which are considered as poor and dirt are filled with politicians who are boldly corrupted and possessed with abysmal intelligence. Many of those countries are geographically located in South Asia, South America and Africa..Just nice to read..

A politician is a Type or a machiavellian character in our circle that we detest, hate, condemn...but elect too, as the choices are not of good or bad, but the choices offered to us are the bad and the extremely bad...no better option...that's why there will always be a rise and development of Satire in our writings, and no panegyrics sung in the glory of politicians...a good write and very apt too! ! !

Great words said. I wonder if the former politicians look back and think I wish I had done things differently Sometimes the power stands in their way. Excellent write and Thank you
