Let Him Fly Away Poem by Brittany Graviet

Let Him Fly Away

Rating: 3.0

Oh lord where is thy angel?
The devil has caught hold
Trapped and tortured
His wings do struggle
Striving not to be clipped.
Seeing freedom close
He reaches out but cannot grasp
That liberty he once heard of
That agency he longs for.

Oh lord I cannot free him
The Devil's holding strong
Instead of me delivering
I seem to drown along
And find my wings also chained
Struggling not to be clipped.

I want to hold onto thy gift,
Your angel you sent to me.
But my afflictions seem too deep,
My sorrows overwhelming.
Angels are for comfort,
Yet i've received none thus far
I've tried to save your captured hero
But died by Satan's sword.

Jesus save my soul
My hand is outstretched
Please my lord i've failed thee
Though i did not transgress
I could not endure the pain
I could not endure your test.
Yet show your loving mercy.
Reach my reaching for thee.

If ye can only bear one
Before the devil claims both,
Take your angel back
Please heal his wings
And let him fly away.

I'll wait till he can be whole alone
then please lord
send him back to save me.
