Let Me Fly Away Poem by Elizabeth Fowler

Let Me Fly Away

I sometimes wish that you would see,
That all I want is to be free,
To be free from everything,
The school,
The friends,
The people,
From you,
I wish you would let me fly...
To fly away,
Would mean,
Letting everything,
Everything go,
Including you,
I wish to soar far above the rest,
I wish to soar,
I wish to fly away,
I wish I could let you go,
But letting go means losing you,
I wish I could leave it all behind,
Including you,
But I cannot.
Cannot seem to leave you,
I wish to fly,
Can you not see?
That I'm being held back,
But now I leave,
Leave everything,
Including you,
The one I thought,
I could never,
Bare to lose,
I leave it all here,
And I try once more,
To fly away,
And I succeed.
