Let Me Live Poem by Mpho Nkadimeng

Let Me Live

Let me live with no fear
Let the fire relieve my sins
And burn away these segments
Fragmenting my being with identity
Tailed by my deeds
Let me live with no shame framed by the presence of my past
Chained let live my humility in a long history
Of inhumane seals tagged to my name
That with pools of success cannot cleanse these stains
Because my actions have clotted my path
clotted for too long even my prints cannot foretell directions
Let me live in this cold water brewed to drown my happiness
Where darkness cannot be illuminated
And give peace to light anymore
Let them know of my innocence that have cured
The fate of humanity
From this monstrosity called time
Eats away existence with a rest
Let them know I'm still human for all they care
Please share this flare I drop as my oath to these fragmenting brains
Let live the icon of my past judged with no knowledge of its kind
Let them know of my message
That its words are forever framed in books
Buried in eternal storage that flakes
Then perish
And never resist existence
Let me live longer in your existence
Because my breath ceases to follow dreams of dawn
Splintered by time
Let me live because
I may not live to breathe through the November breeze
But for now I shall dream still of my future deeds

Let me live with no fear! Yes, life should be very ideal for all of us. Nice work.
