Let Me Rest (Revised) Poem by Göran Gustafsson

Let Me Rest (Revised)

My breath it is weak and my heart is slow
But there is a song that's forever young
My lips will slowly shape the words
And sing you what needs to be sung

Let me walk by your side in the valley
Let me drink from your fountain of life
Let me see the light come shining
Let me rest in your arms once more

I'm trapped in a vortex of streaming time
My soul is chained and beaten sore
But waves will carry my silent prayer
To be heard on the other shore

Let me walk by your side in the valley
Let me drink from your fountain of life
Let me see the light come shining
Let me rest in your arms once more

When age appears to hinder my path
When life fades away with the end in view
I bid my sorrows a final farewell
And you, my friend, to follow me through

Let me walk by your side in the valley
Let me drink from your fountain of life
Let me see the light come shining
Let me rest in your arms evermore
