Let's Bring Down The Wall Between Us Poem by Jona PoloRamirez

Let's Bring Down The Wall Between Us

We are blood relations and yet there's a big wall between us,
We can't get through; we choose not to get through,
The wall is growing not because it has to - but a wish
A wish that somehow this wall will unravel itself, a wishful thinking;
The mysteries of our minds - wrapped up in its own world.

What is it about you and me, why can't we break through
This big wall - to finally walk hand and hand through life,
I know you well; we grew up together, walked the same ground,
Together we saw the sun rise from the east and set towards the west,
We spun our dreams beneath the same blue skies, we climbed
The same mountains, we swam altogether in the river...

Now we are apart - built these big walls around us
I go around the wall to find and make you see I am here...
But the big wall on your end is growing huge and thick each day,
I tried to tear down the walls - I can't the wall is stronger
From your end, growing each day - I try to let you know
I am on the other side; you can't see me because you choose not to,
I can see you from my end; but the wall is something
Created from the nook of your heart and mind, you can't see me -
And yet we are blood relations, thicker than water, and water is life...
And we are still alive, your blood is running in my veins...

Inspired by Robert Frost's 'Mending Walls'
