Let Us Pay Tribute Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Let Us Pay Tribute

Rating: 5.0

Whole of the world watched his funeral
Millions were in tears on its arrival
The plane was taking off from Tashkent
Russian summer capital witnessed it

The peace formula was worked out
Some portion was to be ceded as fall out
From talks and this thing troubled him
He complained of chest pain to doctor’s team

Indians whipped whole night
Country was victorious after long fight
But alas! At great loss of humble leader
He stood with integrity of highest order

No politician, even today, can match
He was considered as humble prize catch
Never heard in political history
He showed the way to the country

He had car loan to his debit
He could not afford even to pay it
Such Prime Minister was no more
Entire world was very sore

The countries may talk of high value
But he was honest and true
Never bothered for official protocol
Even though it was available at short call

Let us pay tribute to such noble soul
He was true son of Indian soil
He breathed his last in foreign but friendly country
Country may always miss it and feel sorry
