Letter To Tola Poem by Omolola Oladotun David

Letter To Tola

I write not because it's what I want to do,
Rather, this is what I must do.

I write not because there's nothing else to say,
But because you're everything I ever prayed.

I write within my most shallow pain,
Yet am convinced such is but for my gain.
I write from coast to coast
With hopes that my journey would never close.

I write not with ink and silk
Rather with my heart free and filled.

I write not of my lonely self
Rather I speak of you my loving friend

You my friend is why I write
To express everything that is right
