Letters Poem by Sarah Frederick

Letters

Rating: 5.0

As my lips quiver
And my tongue tastes the water of sorrow
I look at the letter you sent
I peer at your words
As they slice me up inside
Again and again I feel the pierce of the blade
And see the look on your face as you thrust it at me

As my vision blurs
And my cheeks become a riverbed
I read what you've said
I try to understand these letters
These small letters, strung together as words
And spaced by nothing but air

These little letters
Those which appeared to be caring
Which seemed to be understanding..
Now, I've realized what they do
What they accomplish in good
What they conquer for bad

I see these letters
How they destory and diminish
I see these little letters
And stare at them with awe
I watch these letters
As they control the world
