Letting go is never easy
Especially when it breaks your heart.
And all those memories flood your soul
Thick as a London fog.
The realization that it was never meant
To be, not ever
Grabs you by the gut, and just festers there,
like the parasite from Alien
Slowly eating it's way out.
But there are no more tears to shed,
There are no more words to be said.
Just a wrongful and terrible anger.
You have at long last realized,
That there are not that many summers left.
A wise man once said,
Get busy living, or get busy dying..
letting go now will spare you later.
Even though you know deep down in,
Your heart, that later, is now.
