Letting Go Poem by Linda Engwall

Letting Go

Why do some thoughts
Some people haunt you
Long after they should

Should we then place
More value on their importance
Just because we cant seem to let them go

I wonder which it is
Are they more valuable
Or do they just take up space in your mind
Simply because YOU can't seem to forget

Does it even matter anymore
Which is it
Time to leave the past there
Where it belongs

If it doesn’t let you move
Makes you stuck
How can it be good
For you anymore

So letting it go
Finally
Becomes necessary
For your sanity
Your life
Finally leaving space for
People who will come in after
To fill your life with love
Left behind by those seemingly unforgettable faces
