*Lickerish

*Irish archaic: eager to taste or enjoy

A wood most wild,
Deep,
Afar on a knoll,
Bades a good man swamped
to wade and weed a corporate maelstrom,
Too mired in nothing natural but greed,
To come and claim again
The fine hiding of unswept forest
That first sired his boy joy
And a strong love, whose Lady for 33 sweet years
Helped anchor his truer, more noble, most simple
Yet real aim.
Their created purpose:
To dance ridges and hollows
Of the Tallapoosa plain as old man McCrary must have
Long before cars, current, or running water
Made it easy to lay waste and kill
The heart of GOD
He found and brought back
Just
In time, fully the broadest grin on a tractor ever known.
Her lilting ballad penned the yen for
Their best dream
Ever as one,
And they'll get there
From now on.12-31-05

Poem of the Day

poet Li Po

Amongst the flowers I
am alone with my pot of wine
drinking by myself; then lifting
my cup I asked the moon
to drink with me, its reflection
and mine in the wine cup, just
