Lies Our Parents Told Poem by Kevin Patrick

Lies Our Parents Told

Rating: 5.0

The lies our parents told us
Were their attempts to keep us safe
And the lies we tell our children
Protect that faith in our mistakes

Its only when we start to question
These blinding values for ourselves
That we stop the wheel from turning
And face the facts that are indwelled

As the wheel of life turns we pass our lies from generation to generation. How cleverly you've raised this topic. No-one can disagree with your message as there will always be something that turns out to be a lie. I like the way you've have emphasized what we must do: 'question', 'stop the wheel', and 'face the facts'. Every poem that raises awareness of a problem should come with a solution.
