Life At A Glance Poem by Tirupathi Chandrupatla

Life At A Glance

As I sit down
And look over
Bygone years
I begin to wonder

How many great
Souls guided me
With abundance
Of benevolence?

Mother you stand
At the very top
Showing me how
To be a person

Who can treat others
With kindness and respect
Showing a distinct
Level of compassion.

Father you made me
The professional I am
Treating matters
With wisdom and thought

Taking a failure
As a steppingstone
To reach higher
To achieve success.

At school and college
Met devoted teachers
Inspiring role models
Who made me learn

And showed the way
To learn on my own
And teach others
To learn some more.

My siblings showed
Support and love
I tried my best
To reciprocate.

My friends made me
The man I am
Love from hearts
Ever-flowing.

My life's partner
Gave me her all
Encouragement with
Words of inspiration.

Children followed
Their paths to success
Providing me with
A sense of fulfillment.

Those who disagreed
Without their knowing
Set me on the right
Path to follow.

What else can I ask
When I have received
More in return
For what I have done.

I see the musings of a contented soul. This attitude of being grateful to all who in one way or the other helped us become what we are is some thing everyone has to cultivate in life! We owe much to all those who are close to us. Even those who criticize us also enable us to sit back and think and thus effect corrections in life!

Although I have also learned valuable lessons from terrible people, treating me and others terribly; I have many thanks to my parents, children and dear friends who have been part of my growth and journey. My main goal for whatever time I have left, is to do for others so that they too can benefit from a wise, caring person
