Life Goes On Poem by Edna T. Helberg

Life Goes On

I've been to the depths of despair,
Reaching for a loved one and no one there.
I've been through loneliness and all the strife,
Now I'm forging on to make a new life.

The past is gone, but still in my heart
I've pieced it together to make a new start.
New friends I've met so kind and dear,
But, Oh, my darling, I wish you were here.

I think of my loved one as a shining star,
Looking down with tenderness from afar.
I'm never alone as long as I believe
There are blessings here for me to receive.
