Light Hearted Poem by Katherine Cade

Light Hearted

If a light bulb hurts when you step on it, what will happen if you step on a broken heart?
Will you scream in pain like you would with the light bulb? Or would wasting your time trying to fix it make you feel as if for once in your sorry life, you’ve done something good?
Why are you wasting your breath on something that has already been worn and partially torn?
Love, oh love is foreign to me, this is why when I say I’m in love, it doesn’t have any meaning.
This broken heart I speak of, would you sweep it up like the broken light bulb?
I’m sure if you tried to mend it,
You wouldn’t win it.
The scars will still be there,
Even a partial tare.
I don’t think it’s quite fair,
When you fall in love, it falls apart,
And flies away like a dove.
It’ll hurt more than promised, I assure you.
I’ve swept up a broken heart before. It was shattered and hurt. Don’t try, because in the in you’ll be broken too.
