Like God Smiling Happily Poem by Julia Miller

Like God Smiling Happily

The sun shines down on me,
And warms my willing soul.
The creek plays lullaby melodies,
That continually makes me whole.
Far away, the tires turn,
And the motors roar.
They beg my heart to recall,
What has made it sore.
But my heart will not listen,
It has found peaceful rest,
It's taking full advantage,
Of the fleeting seconds left.
While the sun still shines on me,
Like God smiling happily,
And the creek plays lullaby melodies,
That whisk away my memories.
I pray for you my dear,
That your heart may find its way here.
Far from the tires tempting turns,
And the motors intruding roars.
But for now, this place is mine and God's,
If only for these few moments,
Nature's healing hideaway,
My heart's own place of solace.
