Lilac Poem by Dr. Ramesh Chandra Mukhopadhyaya

Lilac

A lilac looked at me
It was sans honey
It lacked fragrance
But it was dazzling in effulgence
A butterfly rushed to it
And turned into a figure white

But I am all for black
Black clouds thunder and rain
Dark forests dank hearts
That can be ploughed
To sow the seeds of love
When love grows into a wild woodland
That bars the light of civilisation
From touching the breast of earth
Black angels will gambol
In the gloam under the canopy of dark leaves
Of love and ecstasy
