Lily Poem by Anna Hardin

Lily

Such a small puppy.
So fuzzy and cute.
A little Pomeranian.
So small she could hide in a boot.

I named her Lily because of her fur.
Orange and fluffy.
That was almost two years from today.
Today i saw a lily and became stuffy.

It reminded me of you.
Heidi didn't know any better.
The German Shepherd stole you away.
Just for you, I am writing this letter.

One year is all we had.
She didn't mean to.
Heidi was going crazy.
She even killed a poor kitten, too.

I wish you were here.
Heidi is gone.
When she killed that cat,
it was like a sad song.

I got so close,
loved you and that cat.
Then Heidi got her.
I just wanted to be hit with a bat.

I love you Lily.
I miss you a lot.
In just one year you grew a lot, but then I lost you.
The tears, I have fought.

Just know I'll always love you with all my heart.
I know you're in a better place,
but everyday it gets harder for me without you here.
I just wish to see your face.
