Limelight Poem by Sudarkodi Nagarethinam

Limelight

An opportunity that jus knocked
Doors were opened; hands were empty
Grabbed it, made it mine
and let the rest of the world envy

Hundred waiting to see me fall
Thousand want me on the top.
Ten, who want to push me forward
Cannot walk on the rope.

Hurdles to cross at every minute that pass
To handle with care, people who dare
No one’s alone to go up
They join hands all along the top.

Vision blurs and we are lost
Friends betray and enemies laugh
Innumerous fingers that point
hurts the hardest of the rocks.

Mama not around,
to feed the legs that trek
Papa not around,
to caress the shoulders that shrink

Mimics have fun
Hoaxers waiting for one
As I speak my heart out
for umbrellas under hot sun.

Still together, all the way we walked.
We forgave and forgot and we all rocked.
For, we were there on the pinnacle.
Beautiful sun disappears, as a miracle.

Nothing given nothing taken
All I learnt was life's lesson
Right from start, it was all bright
I was I was on the LIMELIGHT.
