Linebacker Poem by Mike Kosman

Linebacker

You push to the limit
You're giving it your best
Working so hard everyday
You've been pulled through a wringer
Been put to the test
You run over what gets in your way

Your body is aching
But you want it to be rough
You put your heart and soul in what you do
You got to be strong
You gotta hang tough
Cause you know they'll be coming
And they'll be coming right at you

You'll never say die
Cause you're not that kind
You rise to the top
When it's all on the line

You bite the bullet
You tow the line
Give it all you got
Time after time
It don't come easy
Nothing's free
On the road to victory

The loudspeaker's blare
And the roar from the stands
Cut through the chill of the night
There's sweat in your eyes
There's blood on your hands
In the heart of the heat of the fight

Anxiety's high
Tempers will flare
But that's all a part of the game
You're tired and sore
But you really don't care
You're gonna make sure
They remember your name

It's a fight to the end
And you'll never quit
Cause you'll die to break the play
And you live to make the hit

You bite the bullet
You tow the line
Give it all you got
Time after time
It don't come easy
Nothing's free
On the road to victory
