Lingering Notes Poem by Annie Mark

Lingering Notes

Is it done?
The goodbye
The waiting and wondering
The moon lingering on the hill..
Your contempt chills me still

Tomorrow i will pass by your home
And turn my head away
Slowly, deliberately
Freezing you from my heart
Lasering the tattoo of your laughter from my mind

You, the God of your kingdom
may preside over the lives that depend on you
Turns out, I am human
I bleed, I hurt and I cannot forgive
Perhaps in time I will not need to try.
