Listen Poem by Adens Kamwi

Listen

Listen to me that is all I ask of you
For I am lost without a clue
I find no serenity in my calamity
I need a hearing ear one that swallows my fear
I need no words for when you talk it hurts
Do not try to give advice for it feels like Atlantic ice
Cold and uncomfortable hard and unbearable
Do not try and understand I need no helping hand
Just a ear that's there to hear, an ear that dares to care
You know not how I feel so don't tell me you know how i feel
That is cruel and unfair, so please just give me your ear, listen to me release my emotions
Even if you don't pay attention all I want is for you is to listen
Look into my eyes and pretend, pretend to listen
But if you are really listening and if you do see my eyes watering
Do not tell me 'it's going to be okay' or that 'tomorrow is a new day'
Do not tell me 'to be strong' or that 'all you need to do is hold on'
No don't!
Just lend me a hearing ear one that does not judge or ask much
That that will be enough, enough to ease the pain enough to make me sane
A hearing ear is all I need to help me grieve
So listen, listen to me cry, listen to me release my anxieties and emotions
And I promise one day I too will sit and listen
