Little Dyke Lake, Nova Scotia Poem by Richard Provencher

Little Dyke Lake, Nova Scotia

Lily pads are scattered
as green flakes
in reckless abandon

from my Fiberglass bow
their green diameters
hide under the push
of visiting waves,
pancake edges curled in
annoyance -

my canoe is an intruder.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
There is little as exciting or relaxing as a canoe voyage around a lake. Each bay and collection of lily pads present a scene to remember. Loons swim about, and bull frogs yammer from watery pads and the lake is a gentle push against the canoe.
