Little Girl’s First Train Ride Poem by David McLansky

Little Girl’s First Train Ride

Between the rough and angry slats,
I press my eyes, bulging fat;
Crushed by weight, stuffed in the pen,
(Oh, the whining of the small children!)
The train goes click, thump, clickety-clack,
Down to Auschwitz, down the track
