Little Has Changed

Rating: 5.0

In days of yore she would have been
condemned by neighbours as a witch
Their lack of caring was obscene.
They would have “Swum “her in some ditch.
If she survived she was guilty
If she did not quite innocent
They showed her little charity
a facts that’s all too evident
In modern times it’s different.
We merely have her put away
in some old peoples home: Content
she is no longer in our way
Once out of sight she’s out of mind.
Solution of a different kind

Hi ivor, Sad, but all too true. We will all grow old one day, will this be our fate? Captivating poetry, written brilliantly Bravo, ivor.....

Interesting comparison of the dastardly deeds of the past-French Revolution, Salem witch trials, etc.-with today's more genteel but no less cruel disposition of those considered a drain on society. Well done! Yen

Too true Ivor, respect and returning the care once given is not the norm any more
