Live Free Or Die Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

Live Free Or Die

I often think of this saying
I read on a license plate
Often wondered about it
It struck me a certain way
As a child
Never knew why

Maybe it was that trip to New Hampshire
To the Laconia motorcycle race
Maybe it's history
It's Revolutionary tie
Maybe it's the spirit in me
A feeling I've swept under the rug
But cannot lately deny

Now at a turning point in life
Not sure where to turn
Something inside me
I feel it yearn
Convention I feel obliged to spurn
Don't care if I crash and burn
I feel unafraid to try and to learn

'Live Free or Die'
Think it means this to me...
To feel free to look up into the sky
To dream of something better
To freely search for your reason why
A spirit to take a stand, or to try
Suddenly, I wish to Live Free or Die
