Loneliness Poem by Emma Jane Rae

Loneliness

* i saw his poem and it really meant something to me, i hope you can relate to it too! *

I placed the ring of holly,
upon the frozen mound,
Brushed the snowflakes from her name,
watched them flutter to the ground,
where i stood in quiet rememberance,
of a brighter, better day,
sighed for what i could not change,
then slowly turned away,
that was when i saw him,
the frail old grey-haired man,
bending by a graveside,
with flowers in his hand,
snow and teardrops mingled,
as they traced each hollow cheek,
'i; m lonely now' he told me 'my life is not complete'
Back home as i was placing,
more presents around the tree,
and longing for other years,
that meant so much to me,
i thought about the sad old man,
standing on his own,
and sat down to count my blessings,
for i was not alone,
yes, i had lost,
but i was not the only one to grieve,
i had seen real loneliness,
on that snowy christmas eve!
