Loneliness Poem by Sandra Damani

Loneliness

LONELINESS 21st aug
Loneliness is a long unending tunnel
Bathed in darkness.
It suddenly engulfs you,
Suddenly releases you.
It's all dark, takes away
from life the spark.

Loneliness is an insipid cup of tea,
horrible and lukewarm,
An unwanted taste
Leaves you displaced.
No feeling of warmth
The lull before the storm!

It changes me into a square peg
in a round hole.
For even in a large crowd
Feelings of isolation cause a frown,
Feeling lonely in a throng,
and joy of friendship, when alone isn't odd,
it is called human paradox.

So do not let this disease
Rob you of your mental peace
Know this, that it first creeps in
Then may turn into
second nature, addiction.
It must not you confine,
Think it's all in the mind.
