Lonely Poem by Layla Norman

Lonely

I cry into my pillows
late into the night
because all i want
is you to hold me tight

But you can't show up
(you can't or you won't?)
i don't know if you want to
but i know that you don't

When sleep finally comes
and dreams pull me to their care
i rest a little easier
knowing you are there

But dreams can't last forever
and what my heart made
to lull me to sleep
will begin to fade

As i wake up
adn don't remember anymore
i hear, somewhere, softly
someone's closing a door

I pray long and hard
hoping it's you
but the thought of you here
is too good to be true

And this becomes real
when i hear a soft 'hi'
knowing it's not you
i again softly cry

I drift off again
praying the week goes fast
because, if it doesn'
I don't think my heart'll last.
