Lonely Star Poem by Madathil Rajendran Nair

Lonely Star

Rating: 5.0

A lonely star
This August night
Who are you?
I can't figure out
With all my knowledge of the night sky

At a place several thousand miles
From mine
Where I don't know
Which is east and west
Who are you
Staring at me this lonely night
At me in my armchair
Eyes fixed on the dome above?

Whoever you are
We have been together
Through distant ages
Our unfamiliarity now
Conceals a closeness
Through several eons

Star you are
In my bosom dome
I have been looking at you
From cradle till now
You will be there over my grave
Staring at me when the dew
Struggles to hold on to grass-blade tips
In the ground frost at my funeral ground

Oh what a sweet knowing that is
The dew, the grass, the star and me
All together in close embrace!
Has life ever been sweeter than this? !

Feeling comes from ambiguity and unknown source are the best one because are draged by wisdom in a sleeping of many decades.it proves unconditional love base on fantasy and mind-forged dreams which are vulnerable to annihilation if they lose true way of thinking and judging. Thanks for sharing your imaginary poem.

A lovely piece, Madathil. I stare at the stars whenever possible and daydream (or is it night dream?) The light reaching my eyes has never and will not ever touch any others, and left its source thousands of years ago

2 – " In the ground frost at my funeral ground" Of course if one is at their " funeral ground" and there is frost, it surely will be " ground frost" ! ok, it did NOT take long for me to find this for MyPoemList tonight! bri :)

1 – i'm glad you were able to keep your (see Poet's Notes) eruption somewhat under control! " We have been together Through distant ages......eons" MN, i did not know you are THAT old.
