The mighty oak I see outside
It's roots are deep and long
It will live a hundred years
And bend when winds are strong

What a beautiful metaphor for strength and endurance, to begin a poem upon lose and the difficulty of carrying on without the beloved, written with feelings emotions we can all identify with, with a last line ending like a haunting folk song. Loved the sentiments expressed within each stanza. (Report) Reply

Hello Kelly, thank you. I know I haven't posted anything in quite a while but I am still about. Have been trying my hand at writing a few books. Just recently released two epic poems as books now at amazon

Very enjoyable poem, full of emotion that really shows through.
    Just one question:
Didn't you mean that the memories STRETCH the nights so long?
In any case, great poem and congrats on Poem of the Day! (Report) Reply
