Look For Me Poem by greg richardson

Look For Me

Look for me
in the caves under
the grass and roots
that hold the lofty tree
above the sea.

Tracing my finger across the ridged roots
and glancing at the children
on the beach
there you may follow me

Or in a silent ward
where the crazies are
in a room for only three
in a single bed staring
at the ceiling above me head
there too, I might find you.

Or in an old fortress
built by a father in the trees
made for children
long of age
as the door creaks open
perhaps I'll see your face.

Who can say?
but in the deepest reaches
of the mind, the forest, and the sea
all in all you are
no more and no less
than what I have
come to be.

A curious shade of blue
you know?
the institutional hue
where you are well
when your heart beats in time
and you behave
to society's rhyme.
